We are a large family (young DC) living in temporary accommodation on site while we complete building our house. It has been over a year due to various complications with planning and getting the building out of the ground. Slowly losing my mind!

While everything is progressing and we are really on the home straight the unexpected costs, cold dark nights, cramped space and winter in general are really taking their toll. Can anyone tell me it will be worth it? Have you done it?
Losing track of the amount of people who tell me it will be worth it in the end but so tempted to cut and run as we have had offers. The thing is we could never afford to buy what we are building. Hoping its just the time of year as usually I'm excited about the project. Does anyone have any success stories to help me refocus?

OK, so you're engaged in a much bigger project than most of us on the extension thread, but do come and join us in there! We feel your pain on the cramped space and the cold and the dusty conditions, even if our projects are smaller and shorter.

Spring is around the corner. If you can get through the next 8 weeks or so, the light and warmth will be coming back and life will be easier. Hang in there. It is brutal and it feels interminable when you are in it, but try to hold on to the idea that there will be a future point where you sit in your beautiful living room with a glass of wine and laugh about what you endured to get there.
