Red paint for study/library in a Georgian house?

I would be really grateful for some recommendations. I quite like EatingRoom Red which is an F & B colour, but mid 19th century. I am not being too purist but would just welcome any other suggestions. Has anyone used Little Greene paints or Deluxe Heritage with success?

What era Georgian?

If earlier C18, then what about something like Picture Gallery Red - effectively a dusty orange colour.

If post George III or Regency, I would honestly stick to period palettes. It's such a shame not to! Such an amazing era of architecture and interior design - and the delicacy of it is easily overwhelmed by those bolder later Victorian colours. Plus, the Regency ones are so lovely and light!!

Thank you so much whisky! I agree with you totally. The house was built in 1790.

I have red in our Georgian music room and sitting room and it looks lovely, I think strong colours really suit old houses. We have red Sanderson wallpaper above the dado rail, which matches the paint below which is Sanderson Bengal Red.

I've recently used Little Green Adventurer for the inside of a cupboard, but that might be a bit too burgundy for you.

We have had this in a previous house and it is a lovely red - the pictures are not really representative, you'd need a sample.

Thank you so much for these suggestions. I have ordered samples!
