Does such a thing exist or all they all total or nearly total blackout?

The place where I had curtains made a couple of years ago told me they are the same thing. You could try a heavier weight fabric and standard linings instead or you can always hang separate thermal linings behind the curtains in the colder months and remove them when it's warmer.

Yes, thermal non-blackout lining does exist - I bought some (fabric, not ready-made) a few months ago and it's such a change being able to keep the curtain drawn in cold weather but not stumbling around in complete darkness.

The fabric was just called 'thermal lining' without the term 'blackout'.
