Bathrooms and Kitchens for dummies

Please help me!

I need to get a new kitchen and bathroom fitted in my flat. Want to do the bathroom first as if I can get the washing machine upstairs from the kitchen, then great.

Where on earth do I start?!

I'm leaning towards getting the fitting done by the same place as I purchase the items/units from as I don't even know where to start with co-ordinating fitters/tilers/electricians etc.

Am I over thinking it? Am I a a stores dream to rip-off?! I'm in fairly central London which adds another logistical nightmare in terms of parking etc.

Please help me with your tips/know-how/instructions!

We asked around for recommendations. Eventually went with a local company who stocked lots of different makes and provided the fitters.

Unfortunately I don't know anyone around here - had a look on my builder and check a trade but no-one stands out with good reviews and has availability!

I was considering going somewhere like John Lewis, but assuming they will charge me a fortune for fitting etc? Anyone any experience with JL bathrooms/kitchens?

Do you have any local FB groups? Ask there for recommendations?
Otherwise your first stop would be b&q, wickes, bathstore, ikea, howdens
Higher end would be kitchen companies like Harvey jones, tom howley, Martin Moore. Bathroom stores usually have their own fitters

I'd recommend heading to local independent retailers in your area. They tend to be much more attentive than the big high street showrooms & sometimes the pricing can be surprisingly comparable.

Good luck =)

@DerelictWreck - did you get your bathroom / kitchen sorted?

And did you use JL / similar for an all in one job for your bathroom?

(just going through the same myself on the bathroom front)
