A bit late now but is pink a step too far!

I looked around my lounge and thought it was looking a bit meh with oak effect laminate floor and oak effect furniture.

Needed a new dining table and chairs. So a white table and pink, yes pink! fabric covered chairs are being delivered tomorrow.

I'm having a wobble thinking it is going to be way OTT. They were cheap in the Argos sale. With good reason people might think. Ha Ha.

I've put in the links to them.

Honest opinions. Am I mad?

Tables ok chairs are awful. What colour are your curtains?

pieceofpurplesky · 04/01/2018 23:43

Not my taste but it could look great. Wallpaper with a slight pink flower ... lots of accessories and throws - depends what you do with the room.

venys · 04/01/2018 23:43

Well at least it's something fun!!!

pieceofpurplesky · 04/01/2018 23:45

Yikes! They could look fun and vibrant but not stylish I don't think.

Can we see the room they're going into to make a more informed decision? Grin

FadedRed · 04/01/2018 23:48

Well, they are erm.. .... different!
At that price, I think they are brilliant. Why should furniture be brown and boring?
Have some fun with them while you are saving up for the Chippendale/G Plan/naice oak dining suite.

ClementineWardrobe · 04/01/2018 23:50

I love them! If you are gonna do it then do it properly. Fabulous colour.

Table maybe ok but Chairs are hideous, just hideous.

MrsEricBana · 04/01/2018 23:52

Fine! Definitely uplifting and possibly even funky 😂

ButterfliesandMoths · 04/01/2018 23:53

Love the table... and the chairs and I say go for it. I wish I was brave enough to be that colourful.

You could pull it off but it depends on what the rest of the room looks like! If you have magnolia walls and beech laminate floor it's going to look shite tbh. If you have say navy walls and a dark wooden floor it might be ok!

BritInUS1 · 05/01/2018 00:02

I think it depends on the decor in the rest of the room, but it could look really cool as long as the colour is carried through

BumWad · 05/01/2018 00:04

I understand why you’re having a wobble

RedastheRose · 05/01/2018 00:04

Style is individual, as pp have said it depends on how you dress the rest of the room but with plenty of toning/complimenting bits and pieces then it could look fabulous.

ameli · 05/01/2018 00:08

Love the colour

SkyIsTooHigh · 05/01/2018 00:30

Possibly a bit mad... But like PPs say I think you have to go with it and be bold with the rest, not just leave them plonked alone in the middle of the oak. They'd just look like sore thumbs (almost literally!). A big vibrant rug underneath might help.

agentdaisy · 05/01/2018 00:31

The table is okay but those chairs are... just...erm...bright.

As pp have said it depends on the rest of the room. Navy walls would set off the chairs really well and the oak floor would look good with it too.

IHeartKingThistle · 05/01/2018 00:34

They wouldn't stand out at all in my lounge OP! From all these responses I was expecting something insane.

IHeartKingThistle · 05/01/2018 00:35

Meant to say I like them!

Pinkyblinder · 05/01/2018 01:42

Thanks everyone for your opinions.

@Poshindevon - Currently have dark blue curtains but have just bought some "funky fuchsia ones. Well...I might as well go the whole hog!

@pieceofpurplesky -I did consider that throw but chickened out and got a cream one to go over the sofa. But I may now change my mind....

@BrokenBattleDroid - Sorry didn't want to out myself, hence a name change for this thread. Walls are jasmine white. No feature walls anywhere. Floor is a nice oak colour that I have had nice comments about.

@Pinkheart - I suppose I did ask people not to hold back. Ha ha. Those chairs are very marmite aren't they. I was going to get them in grey but dithered too long and they sold out.

@amelie and IHeart. Good to see that you like them.

The reason I have decided to take a walk on the wild side is that I really love the colourful rooms on sites like Rightmove.

So I thought what the heck! The dining table and chairs were not expensive - got the table for £19.99 plus delivery charge and chairs were buy one pair and get the other pair for half the sale price. But maybe I should be thinking more of good taste than on getting a bargain? Hmm

Anyway I'll live with them for a while and add accessories as suggested. I can always sell or give them away if it becomes too much.

I like them OP. I had that colour in my kitchen on one wall and loved it. Personally, I like white walls and bright accessories.

MayorOfOz · 05/01/2018 02:05

Love them!

Newrules · 05/01/2018 02:09

I was imagining worse tbh. They could work well in the right room.
