Durapol?

I’m about to do a a kitchen renovation (using DIY kitchens) and am trying to decide on the worktops. My dream was a white quartz of some kind but now I’ve done a bit of research, that looks out of our budget. So I think i’m going to have to go down the laminate route. Has anyone used durapol? If so, can anyone recommend a colour that looks fairly authentic? Or does anyone have a better suggestion?

Thanks
Mary

We looked at durapol and got some samples, but ended up going for silestone, it just didn't quite deliver what we wanted. Think about trying local suppliers for quartz. Ours was under £2k, but it depends how much you need.

I’ve used durapal before. Good quality laminate and certainly a lot cheaper than the £2k pricetag above!

We have had duropal worktops in our kitchen since 2003 and have been very happy with them. I had the most success choosing by going into a showroom but at the time we bought ours they didn’t really look authentic stone but we didn’t have premium worktops. They have suited our lifestyle and budget. I think you have to see the worktops or larger samples and weigh up what’s important to you. We still couldn’t afford what I’d like but the duropal has been easy to keep clean, not required maintenance and practical but not stunning or desirable. When we looked the shop owner said the glossy worktops aged the most quickly so we avoided that finish.

What is the design of your kitchen? In a previous kitchen, I couldn't afford quartz for all of it so had quartz on the island unit and Duropal on the 2 "working" work tops- went for a complete contrast. It looked lovely (even if I do say so myself! 😮)

@nicnak1 @BananaPie or @namechangedtoday15 do any of you have a pic of your kitchens so I can see how it looks?

I've changed kitchen since, sorry!

We have duropal. It's absolutely fine. Not super high end but I like it.

My kitchen does no justice to duropal it would only put you off, but I’ve got to say the worktops are real workhorses, they have probably made further innovations as well. I would ring up a few kitchen showrooms as I found actually seeing them with the units helped. We haven’t got the budget for the worktops that caught my eye but once I had a family my priorities changed and I forgot about how nice the others looked and was grateful ours was practical and so long lasting. The edges stay on, not easily damaged, takes all the abuse my family throw at them and is very forgiving all round.
