How long did you wait for offer to be accepted or rejected?

I've put an offer in on a house I really want and now the wait to hear back is killing me! It's only been 24 hours, and I know that at this time of year the seller might be away from home etc but I've no patience and there's only so much pacing around and checking my phone I cope with Blush

Does anyone know if estate agents chivvy a seller along after a while or do I just suck it up and tear out my hair quietly.......

Ours was a matter of hours...we went back and forth with a couple of counter offers before it finally got accepted but it was all in the same day.

Does your offer come with a condition eg to respond before close of business the same day? That's normal practice ...... x

Ours was over a week. it killed me! I was on tenterhooks waiting for the phone to ring, I even used to take it into the gym just in case.

Same day would have definitely saved me some grey hairs Grin

There wasn't any time limit on the offer, the only condition was 'subject to survey'. If I haven't heard back soon, I'll email the solicitor and see if she'll put a time frame on it.

I need to go for a shower but I'm scared of missing a phone call 😩

heron a week!! I can't cope with that, if I have to wait that long I'll just move in and start squatting Grin

You can ask your solicitor to chase up as you will make offer on other property if no go

I did not respond till the next day as I wanted to discuss it with DH when he got home for work. The first offer was very cheeky so I did not feel any need to hurry. The second was more realistic but I still wanted to sit down and add up the figures. If someone did not allow me the chance to sleep on a decision, I would simply have said no.
