Thanks lovelies, I love it 😊

Have you looked at reclaimed doors? If you can find one that fits it can be a cheap way to get a great looking door.

Do not under any circumstances use Safestyle! I can’t remember how much they charged but I wouldn’t have anything from them if they were giving it away. Not only did they drill through the hall wall and into the bedroom when they fitted the door, after a few years we had problems with it.

It should have still been under warranty but there was no way we were having them back in the house so we had a new door fitted by a local company.

We used a company called Omega Homestyle. Long Crendon in Bucks. The final cost for the door was £1400 but it is stylish, pale grey and with lovely chrome door furniture. These cost extra but are well worth it. It is a Victorian style with opaque glass panels. Just perfect. Very efficient and friendly company.

It can vary, wildly. I had 3 companies give me a quote, for 2 composite doors. Most expensive was 4K, think it was Anglican. Next was 2.5k. The cheapest was £1100. I went with the cheapest as they were identical doors! He was an independent one-man band.

4years love the door, but love the house name more Grin

4yearsnosleep · 12/01/2018 18:42

Thank you DontDIY it's in memory of our first dog called Fraggle 😊

We got 3 quotes, the cheapest was a local chain, but they didn't do the teal colour my husband wanted. 2nd cheapest was a one man band. I did check his quote at compositedoors.com and they were more expensive by £50.

Safestyle quoted my friend £5k for a door. I'd never go with a national company that advertise on the tv as those adverts are expensive so even at supposedly 70% off they'll be more expensive x

I got a basic upvc one supplied and fitted for £500 (about 7 years ago though). It's secure and draught proof.

DontDIY · 12/01/2018 18:58

Aw, I love it even more! That’s so sweet.

candlefloozy · 12/01/2018 20:31

Well you've all put me off safestyle. I think I need to get someone round and get some quotes.
Thanks everyone.

My composite door was £1000, we moved out a year later and it still upsets me that we had to leave it behind Sad
