We've just had a guy from Everest come to give us a quote on a new front door. He was meant to come yesterday but never showed up.

He came this morning and straight away asked to use the toilet, figured he was checking out our house but maybe he did need the loo.
He came downstairs and straight away fired off about how expensive they are, he assumed we'd be using finance to pay etc I told him we wouldn't get finance.

He asked me what I wanted and I said I want a composite door in dark blue, he said he'd give me the cheapest options of everything they do. I went to go feed my son his breakfast and came back, he gave me a quote of £2,500 !?!? Then said they're so expensive and he'd never use them hisself, said he uses a different guy and he'll pass our details on to him. He asked if I was a spy and told me not to tell his managers.

Now I'm wondering if he even gave me a real quote or he upped the price to up-sell his other 'guy'

Why is getting a quote so bloody difficult!?

Everest are a nightmare. They came to quote me for windows. We've a full height (2 storey) window at the back of the house, the guy that cane said they couldn't do it in pvc as it wouldn't be robust but quoted for the rest of them, even discounted it was pushing 40% more than the safestyle quote we got (and went with).
Couple of months after the quote I got a call asking if I was "happy with the installation and service?" Er, you didn't do it. Turns out they could have but the salesman was a complete idiot. Now I have them calling me constantly asking if I'd like work done (at least once a month). NO! I've had it all done ffs!

To help you on the door side though, my sister just had a new composite door fitted, they are a lot of money but it's fabulous. She used a website, www.solidor.co.uk to buy it and then had a local builder fit it.

Oh, and Safestyle were fabulous for my Windows. Cannot rate them highly enough, from the salesman to price to how polite, quick and courteous the fitters were.

Probably fed up and hates his job.

Don't blame him sounds shit!

Thank you for the suggestion @DreamingofItaly we did a similar thing for our kitchen, bought the units separately and hired a good friend to fit it. It wasn't smooth sailing for us, so I wanted to use a well known company that would sort the door and the fitting. Never mind ey, onto the next quote.

@Cbaanymore123 I agree it probably is a rubbish job but all I wanted was an honest quote. If he can't provide that then maybe he shouldn't do the job?
