What do I need from an oven?

We are about to order a new kitchen which will have two single ovens. I'm a bit bamboozled by all the choice out there. Do people really use all the different functions or do you just ultimately stick it on fan at 180 for everything?! I'm looking to spend around £600-700 on each one and am considering the lower end Miele or Siemens oned.

Confused I don’t fancy your crackling much

Do you really cook everything at 180? If you don’t like cooking why are you getting 2 ovens?

Sorry that was there to bump for you too!

I've got two identical ovens and love them. I'd go for the basic level Miele ones.

I certainly don't use all the functions that mine have.

Hmm I never said I didn't like cooking just that I wondered whether people actually used all the different functions that ovens come with. Our current oven has no functions on it other than fan or heat from the bottom...
P.S We don't eat pork so no current danger of anyone being served unacceptable crackling Wink

I've always found convection better than fan for cake baking so wouldn't have an oven that couldn't be either/or.

I've also always found the option of a half grill useful.

Just don’t nt think you need a steam oven. They’re pants.

Pyroclean button - self cleaning oven function.

I’ve got 4 ovens including steam one
Miele has option of fan or conventional and pyrolytic clean and v happy with it
I like waist height oven best
180 is standard but all ovens have many more options and I think about my day and when I want to eat and often use 120/140/220
I use conventional settings if I don’t want drying effects of fan on roasts

Steam ovens are a waste of time imo.

You want slow cleaning.

You want something that doesn’t switch itself off after 12 hours on a low low heat.

You want something that can go really high.

You want something that doesn’t take 15 mins to reach temperature (Miele are good for this, don’t know about Siemens)

You want shelves that slide out easily

Out-and-under doors are a gimmick you don’t need

You want them installed next to a countertop

I’d go with one full and one half oven, personally. Sometimes you only want to bake a loaf tin cake, don’t want to heat an entire oven for that.
