Removing Tiles

Wondering if anyone has experience of successfully removing tiles which have been placed over bricks? It looks as though whoever did it has done a thorough job and we cannot think of a way to remove the tiles and the cement (?) underneath. Thanks!

Floor or wall? And what type of tiles?

They are wall tiles; they look normal ceramic ones? They have been placed over a brick fireplace. Thanks.

We’ve always used a hammer and chisel. And goggles. You don’t want chips in your eyes.

Wou May be pleasantly surprised and find they’ve put a boarding on prior to going over the brick.

If the tile adhesive is stuck pretty hard to the brick you may need to look at some sort of corrosive to remove it.

Thank you! I am just worried about starting to chip/chisel them off and then ending up with a mess that is hard to rectify if they don't come off easily!
