Can anyone give me an insight into Strood in Kent please?
Is it a good neighbourhood, It has an infants school on Mountford Rd that is outstanding so is it a sought after area to buy/rent in? TIA

I used to study near there about 13-14 years ago, and had to wait at that station every day for a connecting train. I’ve also driven through it many times with my family when I was a teenager. It always seemed like a bit of a grim shithole to us - and we are certainly not usually area snobs! Sorry to be blunt, but I prefer honesty! Strood and Chatham at that time were always referred to as being really ‘chavvy,’ and there were problems with antisocial behaviour and unemployment.

There never seemed to be anything there, or anything going on, but it’s next to Rochester which is really lovely.

Maybe it has changed since I last passed through it - I know there have been plans for many years to invest heavily in North West Kent and the Medway towns. It certainly sounds great that there is an outstanding school there.

If I were you, I’d definitely visit and drive and/or walk around the area. Is that the only outstanding school in the area? Check the other schools, what are their ratings? What if your child doesn’t get in?

Do you need to live in a Medway Town, or a particular part of Kent?

Well I like strood. It's no worse than anywhere else imo. You've hit the train, shops, close to motorway & A2. I don't live there, but it does seem expensive house wise (like everywhere else in Kent!)

Actually, I know people say Rochester is nicer, but I prefer strood to Rochester. It's less snobby!
