Sandbach- Does anyone live there?

What is it like?
The houses seem very cheap. The schools seem to be good to outstanding. /
How bad are things like 'the traffic' (ie is it gridlocked?) or does it smell of agriculture etc?
We can't work out the catch. Is there anything to do in the evening?
What's public transport like (for the kids as they get older?)
Where is the nearest 'big town' and how long does it take to get there?
We're contemplating moving our primary aged children and don't want to spend the next 10 years driving them round to cinemas etc. As we currently live inner city and the older children were quite self sufficient when it came to making social plans!
Thanks in advance.

Some areas have been affected by salt mining in the area - something to watch out for.

Lived there years ago. There should be a good bus service to Crewe. Other towns are Stoke for mall type shopping, Nantwich and Northwich for nicer high street shopping. It's a nice area, with lovely areas around it.

I live nearby and have family in a high school there Smilefeel free to pm me!

so WHY IS IT SO CHEAP??

Does anyone commute into Manchester? What's the commute time in reality?

Well I've lived my whole life around the county but if you don't like Cheshire -y (what does this even mean?!) then Cheshire may not be for you! Grin

furryelephant · 21/12/2017 13:10

Yep, I live in a little village on the outskirts and will never understand why it’s so cheap!! It’s a lovely place.

RebeccaWrongDaily · 21/12/2017 15:05

my experiences of cheshire are borne out of Hale, Bowden etc. The really posey parts!

To me it’s fairly bland. Not really close enough that a large section of the towncommutes into Manchester which is why it’s so much cheaper than places like Wilmslow and Hale. However, it’s certainly less Cheshire-y than those sorts of places so if that’s what you’re looking to escape then it may be for you. We’re in Woodford and I do quite a lot of ferrying.

Hi no one seems to know/mention about the bail hostel in Sandbach that houses the most prolific sex offenders. We didn’t know about it until we moved here. Some have reoffended in the community. It’s very disturbing

Pati82 · 18/02/2022 12:42

Hi, are those sex offenders still there ? Planning to move to the area
