Fixing Leather Sofa

Not sure if this counts as DIY, but here we go.
My leather sofa has worn through and now has a hole in one of the seats. I have a patch and some leather glue, but I feel like it needs something to hold the edges together to make it stronger and allow the patch to cover the biggest area, so it doesn't wear through again easily.
Does anyone know the best way to fix this?

Could you get a bit of the leather, eg from underneath? If not, some other dark, strong flexible fabric and glue it underneath the tear? does that make sense?

I could order another patch and stick one underneath and one on top, if that's what you mean?
It says it to apply pressure for 25 minutes to allow it to set; do you know if it will be strong enough to keep the bits in place so the edges don't pull apart, or should I add a few stitches to help it?
