Never used professionals before - 3 guys doing s grand job so far - should we get some cash for later? If yes, how much?

OP posts:
lynmilne65 · 08/12/2017 09:34

£20

Lucisky · 08/12/2017 10:39

The last time we moved, 15 years ago, we tipped 20 quid per moving man.

wowfudge · 08/12/2017 10:50

We did - they worked bloody hard.

insancerre · 08/12/2017 10:52

Yep
£20 and a case of beer
It's a bloody hard job and they go above and beyond
Plus you never know when you might need them again 😂

kingjofferyworksintescos · 08/12/2017 12:13

I had help from movers recently and although they were done in around 3 hours ( most of it went into storage ) I gave them an extra £40 ( 3 men ) to get themselves a breakfast / lunch .
They were brilliant and made my life so much less stressed

Topnotes · 08/12/2017 12:14

Yes definitely- we did £20 16 years ago!

Thiswayorthatway · 08/12/2017 12:16

Only if they're any good. Plenty of tea and biscuits though.

BubblesBuddy · 08/12/2017 12:42

£10 each or thereabouts.

HRTpatch · 08/12/2017 12:43

Gave mine £50. They went beyond the call of duty

BordersMumNow123 · 08/12/2017 12:46

Definitely, especially if they work hard. We gave ours £50 earlier this year and ordered them pizzas for dinner. They were amazing

keepingbees · 08/12/2017 15:26

I didn't when we moved last year, but they had turned up at the wrong time, were very rude to me, and scratched our furniture. If they did a good job I would.

Cocoloco75 · 08/12/2017 16:49

Yep, we tipped ours £20, bought them lunch and kept them in cold drinks (it was a very hot day).

MaisyMary77 · 08/12/2017 16:55

Tipped ours £50 five years ago. They were amazing; managed to move all our stuff in less than two days with 6 inches of snow to contend with, then assembled our beds, wardrobes, etc.

WhatwouldOliviaPopedo · 08/12/2017 17:30

We moved five weeks ago and tipped the team of three 20 quid each. They were amazing though - the whole day ran like clockwork and they removed some interior glass doors in the new house that we mentioned we wanted taking down.

sdaisy26 · 08/12/2017 23:22

We gave ours £20 each earlier this year. They were amazing, went above & beyond. I was on my own most of the day & they were so efficient, careful and also just really friendly. They definitely earned it!

Never even thought about it! Lots of tea tho!

Coughingchildren5 · 09/12/2017 20:51

We gave ours some cash and a crate of beer. They were very pleased. They deserved it.

wowfudge · 10/12/2017 07:16

For those people saying give them plenty of tea and biscuits - movers have always refused drinks when we've offered because they are always busy using their hands to pack or carrying stuff. They've all brought their own stuff with them and taken five minutes when it suited them.

Nakedavenger74 · 10/12/2017 07:22

Good coffee, biscuits, cold water(if it's hot) a beer towards to the end of packing and £20 per mover on leaving. We just bunged the foreman £100 (but told the moving guys that he had their cash!)

Two years ago. Four men, £20 between them ( feel a bit mean now reading some of these posts!) but I'd paid around £1300 for a 10 mile move so couldn't afford much more
Hot and cold drinks throughout the day goes without saying but wouldn't have had time to provide them with food too

FiveShelties · 10/12/2017 07:37

International move all packing done by them and tipped £120 for 4 men. Took them 4 days to pack and load. They were amazing and such fun.

FiveShelties · 10/12/2017 07:39

I only wish the crew at the other end had been half as good.

redmarkone · 10/12/2017 09:54

nope, im afraid we didn't. the standard rate was £100 less (had got quotes a month earlier) but the cheaper ones were all booked up on our weekend.
