Nope, still got that wrong!

Third time lucky, anyone?

whiskyowl · 07/02/2018 14:55

Oh BUGGER IT!! If you go back to page 31 there's a link on there that does work, right at the bottom.

4yearsnosleep · 07/02/2018 15:10

Yay Dust, I loved the yellow ones! Shoulda like glazing is another big headache. Our bifolds are fairly cheap but are made locally by a father & son, so if there's any issues, they're only 2 miles away:)

whiskyowl · 07/02/2018 17:02

Ladies, there is a lot of snagging to do but I do believe we are making progress!!

Love it Whisky! The colours & textures look fab together

Fourmagpies · 07/02/2018 17:29

Worth the traumas whisky that looks stunning.

DustandRubble · 07/02/2018 18:21

It looks fantastic whisky, so streamlined and everything works so well together.

FiloPasty · 07/02/2018 18:56

Fabulous Whisky, I’m on P13 now I’ll be back with questions!
We started our project in 2016 appointing an architect after years of discussion, 2 turns down on planning and then went to appeal which went straight through, we’re London but have a massively problematic neighbour (hence the turn downs initially on planning, I think he may of had an inside friend!)
We are waiting for party wall (Victorian terrace side return conversion, reconfiguration if downstairs to add tiny cloakroom and utility room plus much bigger kitchen)
We’ve gone out to tender but they are all coming back tooo much :(

Baxdream · 07/02/2018 20:34

Whisky I absolutely love it! You must be so happy!
That picture window is fabulous

whatashower · 07/02/2018 21:35

Old timer popping back 😀 so much progress and so many amazing extensions and kitchens coming together.......

whiskyowl I am so excited for you on your behalf - I am so sorry you are too sore and exhausted to be your bouncy self! . I LOVE what I am seeing, so obvious that so much thought and planning and care has gone into your labour of love.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Hope your back is on the mend.

Laughing that I am the originator of "the mumsnet tap" although in fairness I think I volunteered mine in response to another popular one. Disappointing it is still out of stock, hope it comes back. Its still a fab tap a year on and its celebrity status makes me smile.

If the old timers can bear it I will wheel out those photos of our DIY kitchen AGAIN for redjellybean. Posted in relief not smugness.

Redjellybean DIY kitchens business model and keen pricing does expect you to do your own planning - no fluffy designers - but the website is an enormously useful resource - they have a vast range of standard units, know their kit inside out and are very helpful at solving specific problems if you get in touch with a clear brief. I am itching to use them again, wish they did bookcases and wardrobes 😀

whatashower · 07/02/2018 21:50

Voila. DIYK Luca in bespoke F&B Black Blue. Oak full stave worktops by Worktop Express. Stainless steel worktop by Cavendish Equipment. And THE TAP.

Happy to help with any queries, will pop back.

Congratulations to everyone on the home straight, good luck to everyone starting out or in the midst of their builds. We are still tackling the dust and afternath a year on, but it is worth it!

It is so beautiful! Does it still look that clean and uncluttered whatashower?

Baxdream · 07/02/2018 22:09

That is like something from a magazine! Amazing 😍

theredjellybean · 07/02/2018 22:22

@whatshower thank you
Dp and I going to leave our beloved Cornwall and venture north to look at diy kitchen showroom.

whatashower · 07/02/2018 22:24

Dust Of course! Just like this !. (No, not really 🙁)
We built a utility room for all our shit, including our dishwasher and laundry. Which helps. However my DH believes if you put things out of view or out of reach the bad fairies come and take those things away. Grrrrrr. And I am untidy by nature but obsessive about being clutter free, go figure. My life is a struggle of buying even more storage boxes, beating myself with Marie Kondo on youtube and self-hate 😀

The kitchen is still great though. 🤣

4yearsnosleep · 07/02/2018 22:29

Swoon Whatashower 😍 it's so flipping beautiful, I love it!!!!

whatashower · 07/02/2018 22:35

bax see above 🤣

redjellybean that sounds a great idea. Do you mean real north i.e. Pontefract? I did this and found it incredibly useful and reassuring although the blokes there were, er, rather down to earth and no-nonsense as befits their native Yorkshire. But very proud of their product and stuff, and actually very helpful.

I ask as I thought I heard they were opening a Southern showroom which would be helpful for you, but cant see anything about it on the website. The 360 degree showroom tour is quite helpful too.

4yearsnosleep · 07/02/2018 23:09

We went to their showroom too, tied it in to a weekend in Harrogate. Such a fantastic place. We went on a Saturday and there was a lovely guy cooking brownies, free coffee and soft drinks 🙌🏼

whatashower · 07/02/2018 23:16

Oooh, ooh, complete aside. I didnt know about this before, as I was truly done researching kitchens last year - but if anyone else is looking at ikea units but keen to customise ....this new co might be relevant - bespoke plywood fronts etc.....

I think my in-laws kitchen came from DIY kitchens and it is lovely too. They definitely make good kitchens.

We have some more doors on our kitchen units today. They were fitting the doors that open upwards. It is taking forever because they have to get the adjustment just so to make the doors line up perfectly. Because they are in two parts horizontally that is 6 panels along the run to perfectly align. Currently they are out by mm so they are still tweaking the tension on the hinges. The main guy is big on things being perfect, so while it is frustrating that it isn’t simple, at least I know he is going to do it properly. Rather than just go for whacking them in and then I have to point out where it is not straight.

FiloPasty · 08/02/2018 07:22

Whatashower I love your kitchen and the tap!!
I was thinking to maybe do a DIY kitchen base but then use the shaker door company. I will have a good look.
Was your total spend v high?
We will probably move when our children go to senior school so trying to not go to crazy on the house.

FiloPasty · 08/02/2018 07:22

What’s the recommended hoover? My stain just broke!

whiskyowl · 08/02/2018 07:38

Ahhh, thanks guys Smile

And I could never tire of seeing your kitchen @whatashower! It's just so beautiful!

This made me laugh, though: 'I am untidy by nature but obsessive about being clutter free, go figure. My life is a struggle of buying even more storage boxes, beating myself with Marie Kondo on youtube and self-hate". I think many women can relate! I certainly can! I have a kind of 1950s we-live-in-the-future fantasy of a house that just glides along smoothly by itself, untroubled by my messy humanness. Sadly, it doesn't ever seem to work out that way. Though, I have to say, so far my new kitchen is so much easier to keep tidy than the old one, because it's literally four times as big. In the old one, everything was so packed in you had to throw stuff into cupboards, and slam the door shut and just hope that things didn't cascade out onto the floor at a later moment.

dust - I am v v envious of your perfectionist kitchen fitter!

filo - I hope you get some good quotes through soon. It's so depressing when they are very expensive.

whiskyowl · 08/02/2018 07:39

This is my utility. It's the old kitchen! An awkward shape because the door and window are diagonally opposite one another.
