Moving from London to York

Hello Mumsnetters,

I must admit at the start that I am not yet a mother - nor am I pregnant, however I am in need of some motherly/wise advise.

My partner and I are thinking about making the move from London to York, he is originally from the area (Fulford) and still has family living closeby. I am certainly not against the idea and having regularly visited I have fallen in love with the Yorkshire charm. I know we would be able to buy a bigger property and it is a lovely place to bring up kids when we do have them in the next few years (hopefully). This all being said, it does set off little anxious alarm bells in my head. All of my family and friends are down south in Suffolk and to me, it seems like a big move.

I guess the advice I was looking for is from others that have taken a similar plunge - How you have found it? Where is the best place to buy for a young family? One of my main concerns is not meeting people or making friends, have you managed to do this easily? Do you have any other advice?

Thanks for listening to my mini rant and any advice would be warmly welcomed! Smile

Fulford is student ville, but my DD (from the very south) loves being at Uni there. Cannot really be of much more help than that !
