Natural Calico, Almond White, Elderflower Tea

Anyone have any of these colours in a light room?

How do they show? And does anyone know what undertones they have/the differences?

I have natural calico in my south facing bathroom. Started off with almond white which I didn’ t Like so much. NC has a lovely warm cast and seems to reflect light very nicely. I do like warm/ yellow tones though which is not so fashionable at the moment.

Thanks, what was the difference between the 2? I also like beiges browns creams, hate grey, so I'm not v trendy at all!

We have almond white in a bedroom which is very light in the mornings if it isn't raining. It looks off white. We have it in another room at the back of the house which is much darker and it looks more creamy brown there.

@wowfudge, thanks for your reply. Ohh if it looks off white in your bright room it may be too pale for me as my room has tonnes of natural light (big windows).

I do have NC in my bathroom but that is a darker room. I like it but wanted a tad beiger & have narrowed down to these 3

@whataboutbob why did you change from AW to NC?

How about Caramel Latte? We have that in our bright, sunny living room. We started with Mellow Mocha and didn't try a tester. It had lilac/grey undertones. In fact it looked more lilac than brown. We then bought a stack of testers and chose Caramel Latte.

Elderflower Tea has definite pale green undertones. We tried it!

ET is a no then I thought I could see green undertones but my OH calls me colour blind!

Tried caramel latte lovely colour but too dark in this room.

NC & AW look the same to me?!

We have elderflower tea in a north facing lounge. It works really well. Yes there are very slight grassy undertones, but it never looks green, just a bit more interesting than most neutrals. It is nice and warm. I’ve always been very happy with it. But then - despite being north facing, the room does have three big windows so gets a lot of diffused light. That might change things a lot.

We used elderflower tea in a south facing salt cupboard. Works very nicely.

Hello, I found AW a little cold. Personally i like a warmer palette but it's not everyone's cup of tea. A yellow tone seems to be a negative for many people these days (maybe because grey is very fashionable).

Looks like you're not into the grey trip either so with luck you'll like NC too! I just really liked the way it "came alive" in the space whereas for me AW didn't. But of course light, configuration, other elements in the room play a big part.

I had Almond White in my lounge but looked awful as my windows are huge at either end. Changed to Toasted Almond which is lovely. Almond White now in my hallway and I love it.

Almond white has worked well in our bedroom, which has morning light. Also in a West-facing hallway. I find myself going back to it again and again as it is versatile. The trade flat Matt version is very good and although more expensive, needs fewer coats.

@crumbs2- you have a cupboard just for salt?!!

It's definitely lighter and less yellow toned than NC. It has just a hint of colour, but it depends on the light in the room. Try testers in several different places in the room and see which you prefer. Caramel Latte isn't dark at all in our room, it's like very milky coffee - you can't rely on the brochure or the Dulux Visualiser or what things are like for other people.

Thanks wowfudge, I appreciate I can't rely on what it's like for others but I've already spent a fortune on testers so trying to narrow it down to just a few now. I'm going to try Calico, hessian & caramel latte so thanks for the suggestion

Mine sometimes has hints of greige.

Had natural calico in old kitchen. It looked just like unpainted lining paper. I didn't like it and quickly painted over it. I think there are far nicer colours.

Upstairs corridor without the lights on. AW works well with dark red accents, I found, by chance.
