Hi there.I need to choose a worktop for my ivory shaker/oak laminate floor kitchen...So far so boring Grin
We need to choose a granite or quartz worktop...I’d love some ideas...Would a pale /white top be too clinical?( planning bright accessories however) Is the black worktop/cream cupboards combo too much of it's time...ie will it date soon? Really grateful for your thoughts..I’d like a classic kitchen with some warmth -tall order ,eh Smile

I’d go classic. Mine is black granite with cream units. How’ve a friend has charcoal grey quartz on ivory units and it’s gorgeous.

We went for blanco city silestone with our off white shaker kitchen, plus an oak peninsula, it's lovely and bright.

Here it is!

Our kitchen is the same as yours colour wise and we went for polished piracema Granite. It isn’t beautiful and doesn’t show up a speck of dirt. We had black polished granite before and it was horrendous always looked filthy unless buffed and never touched!

Ridingthegravytrain · 20/11/2017 21:29

That should say it is beautiful!

We had a kitchen with cream/black briefly (rental) it looked extremely dated.

Try a grey/cream mix granite. Is really easy to keep clean and is neutral enough to take colourful accessories. Black is a bit too stark and not so good with Shaker in my view.

We've got Bianco Antico granite with cream cupboards and it looks fab and very easy to maintain - not sure how that would look with colourful accessories though...

SilverSpot · 21/11/2017 12:33

Cream or white units with black granite I think are quite dated now.

SilverSpot · 21/11/2017 12:34

Very nice @randomthoughts !

randomthoughts · 21/11/2017 13:31

Thanks for the compliments. We’re really pleased. Blanco city was one of the cheapest silestone options, but it looks lovely and contrasts well with the oak, and blends nicely with the cabinets.

I was just coming in to vote for a grey or a cream silestone. I am one of those weirdos who doesn't like granite. BIL has random's choice with sage green bespoke units and it looks terrific there too.

Thank you all so much for your thoughts.I am now considering cream stone on island ( as sink there) with butcher block wood elsewhere...Thinking it might add some warmth , but unsure if combination might be odd.Overthinking this somewhat, but find the whole worktop choice really tricky. And grey/cream fab as wellAagh...First world problems I know!
