Help me choose ceiling lights!

We moved into our house 10 months ago and really need to sort out the ceiling lights in the lounge. I am no interior designer. I need help!

The main problem is there are two light fittings. They are about 3 metres apart. The house is 1970's so the ceilings are not super high. I have chrome fixtures and fittings e.g curtain pole.

I will try and attach a picture. What the hell do I replace these awful plastic light fittings with?

I hate buying lights and like you I have low ceilings and more than one in a room (three in ours) so buying expensive light fittings is three times as much.

We got grey shades from Dunelm and a grey and white pendant.

here are the ones we have. You can get similar things elsewhere of course. If you are changing the fittings you might as well change them for something a bit more interesting than just the plain white ones.
