My Home Move Conveyancing. Any experiences?

Last time buying we paid a local solicitor and I wasn't particularly impressed...

Do not use a firm like this. Utterly awful and frustrating to deal with. Effectively a call centre and you generally get terrible service.
Just don't do it.

Go for a local firm who is recommended.

I have bought & sold more properties than I care to remember & always used a standard solicitor firm. Usually local. Sometimes so called "in house" estate agent recommended firms, which never are "in house" Most of them have been crap. This time I figured we have nothing to lose & decided to try a different way, so we went for My Home Move Conveyancing. They're like a breath of fresh air. The "local solicitor" we'd used on a previous transaction had fucked it up so bad im still owed 3k+ from 10 years ago. My home move conveyancing, (aka premier property lawyers & their portal is called eway) allow you to upload documents in seconds that you'd have to send by snail mail or trek to town to your "local" company to do. It is a modern way of doing things & so much easier. We have our own allocated conveyancer, who is really good & been doing the job for 30 years & doesn't miss a trick. Im sure some people have bad experiences, but over all, if you can do something quickly & easily online & for a cheaper price than using a high street firm charging the earth for their premises then its a no brainer IMO! Go for it!

I used PPL for my house sale/purchase this April. First time I'd used an online conveyancer. They weren't too bad.

I've bought and sold several times now so knew the process although the last time had been 10 years ago.

I found I had to chase them quite a bit and that sometimes there was some confusion over documents with them chasing me for stuff I'd already uploaded.

They would probably be ok if you are in a straight forward chain. My buyers were living in a family members house so had no property to sell and the house I bought was empty due to the owners relocating for work and renting in the short term. So no chain and it still took 3 months.

So one 'great', one 'ok' and a general don't use online conveyancing agents, ever.

Main selling point is. If you don’t complete, you don’t have to pay

Emillee generally speaking the cheaper the fees, the more clients each solicitor/conveyancer has on their books. The more clients there are competing for attention, the less satisfied clients are with their solicitor. In conveyancing there is a strict due diligence and process, there aren't many corners to cut and so there is a certain rotation of jobs which are done every day, every other day, every week etc.

I work in an online conveyancing firm and I have also used My Home Move Conveyancing. The service I received from My Home Move was excellent but I would hesitate to recommend them as so many people do not have good experiences. My own firm is very good and knowledgeable but does have a lot of clients. A small proportion of our clients do complain and these are the ones who leave negative reviews, rather than the many satisfied clients we have.

If I were to move again, I would pick a local mid priced solicitor, but make sure they have more than one person who is experienced and qualified in conveyancing.

Great in theory - online everything, call centrey so anyone should be able to give you an update.

However. Registered the wrong property on the land registry. And didn’t notice, and then didn’t do anything about it. For weeks.

Steer clear if you don’t want to spend a lot of time sorting out stuff like that.

We are currently with them in the process of selling trying to complete the sale oh my goodness I would not recommend them the amount of times we are having to chase them and were not been kept up to date also a month went by no communication between both solicitors there was an email glitch! So I would say stay clear not worth using at all. :(

Oh no, sorry to revive old thread but we have just gone with them to sell a house. I've written two emails in the last week which have gone unanswered. I'm worried.
Is it possible to change at this point?

My Home Move - Advantage Property Lawyers - CEO Doug Crawford should in my opinion be avoided at all costs. These so called Conveyancers did not convayance my home properly and I'm heading into the new year thousands in debt due to having a rebuild an extension they failed to tell me was sub standard. This is only my opinion so check Trust Polite and Yell etc . More negative reviews than positive. I've tried to get them to sort out the issue but they refuse.

We're using them at the moment to buy a house. We're first time buyers and the property we're buying is vacant so i dont know how much this impacts how fast its been. I have nothing bad to say about them, they have an online platform which you can see what needs to be done by you as well as see when an email has been recieved by them the same day (you can't see what it says though) and ive found that they reply to my emails the next morning when I've sent them late at night.

Its been just over a month since we instructed them and we're ready to exchange, were just waiting on some final follow up enquiries (some ridiculous thing a surveyor who sent us the report 10 days late recommend the solicitors checked so no fault of my home move at all). If anything tasks on the online dashboard have been waiting for us to complete and i haven't had to spend any time chasing them up. And like i said i sent some emails asking them something i didnt understand and they replied early the next morning. I was hesitant due to all the bad reviews of the parent company Premier Property Lawyers but the online aspect persuaded me as all documents are uploaded online and then you just download them and post them so this was perfect for us. Its been the least stressful part!

What can i say.... the only positive about this company is the online app and website where you can upload all your documents apart from that not much else. If you are a First Time Buyer, I strongly recommend NOT to use this company.
Mainly because they:

1. are not the cheapest and have lots of hidden charges
2. Communication is very poor and difficult - you will have to do the chasing most of the time if any issues occur. The conveyance solicitor can't be contacted directly only via email and the waiting times could be long if you are on the phone.
3. Do not give them money to hold if its part of the transaction because they will hold onto it for a long time,
4. you will mainly have to take the initiative to get things moving,

5, if you have already given them all the required documents they will hold onto it and take their time.

I won't name and shame the solicitor I used but I advise you use your local solicitor and make sure that it is not part of Premier Property Lawyers Ltd.

That's interesting. We just used them for a (fairly straightforward) remortgage and found them fine. No hidden costs, we paid what they quoted. They were reasonably prompt and responsive and we completed on the expected date.

I've had much worse service from "trusted local" firms who I had to chase for EVERYTHING and wouldn't email documents because they were used to posting stuff (in September 2019, not last century!!)

It's only my opinion but if your transaction is relatively simple and their quote is much lower (as ours was) then IMO it's worth a punt.
