Engineered wood flooring Help!

We are having engineered wood put in kitchen and hallway. So confused between lacquered and oiled and brushed oiled! I keep reading the comparisons and can't work out what is best. So far I've worked out lacquered is harder wearing but scratches more and can end up with
More permanent damage. Any advice greatly appreciated as need to order asap. Also any advice of where to order from online as our builder is fitting it. Many thanks!

If it was me, I’d choose oil over laquer. Just seems more natural.

I chose oiled. Been down 9 years and still looks good.

Flooringsupplies.co.uk is also where we’ve been recommended to buy.

Great thanks for advice. My feeling was oiled but everything was confusing me!

How often do u oil the floor?

thethoughtfox · 05/11/2017 08:09

Laquered is very shiny. Some can look a like cheap ( as if it's laminate) When is scratches, it is more noticeable.

Kitchen and family room about twice in 3 years, other downstairs rooms are other types of flooring
Upstairs, never apart from our bedroom we did a few years ago. Saying that the rest of the rooms upstairs would probably benefit with re oiling.

I went for laquered, I didn’t want to keep oiling it. Also did lots of scratch tests on samples and it was pretty hard to scratch. But scratched and oiled can look pretty rustic too. :-)

We went for lacquered as brushed finishes felt rougher underfoot.
