painting kitchen cupboard doors

i want to give my kitchen a quick and dirty facelift and was wondering how easy it is to paint the cupboard doors and drawer fronts.
I'm not an experienced DIYer although DH is not bad ( but may not want to do it).
I'd like to know what the finish will actually look like, using kitchen cupboard paint, of course.
My cupboard doors and drawer fronts are absolutely plain, no detailing, and are cream coloured with brushed SS handles.
I was thinking of changing them to a pale grey/stone/off white.
Advice from anyone who has done this would be gratefully received. TIA.

Hi I have wooden kitchen cupboards, have painted them many times I have not used specialists cupboard paint, just used a satin eggshell.
F&B was ok, but not the best coverage & chipped/scuffed quite a bit.
Littlegreene gave better coverage, but discoloured quite quickly, the best eggshell I have used is Mylands, really good coverage & very smooth finish & has lasted really well.
Zinsser is a really good undercoat & has been recommend on here quite a bit, a good undercoat is important especially if you have melamine type cupboards, sure others will be along who could recommend specialists cupboard paints.

I have just done our melamine doors with Annie Sloan chalk paint (50% country grey 50% pure white, which would might give you the colour you are after too). Really easy paint to work with, very quick to do and forgiving. I have given it a heavy coat of wax in the high wear areas so hopefully it will last well too but given how easy it is to work with,it should be easy to touch up a drawer easily if needed...

We had good results with specialist kitchen cupboard paint. I did the top and bottom first then used long vertical strokes. It stayed stuck vety well.

Clean them thoroughly with sugar soap first and follow the directions on the tin, you'll be fine. I would avoid the cheapest of cheap brushes, as they can tend to leave bristles behind in your nice smooth finish.

We are in the process of buying a house with a solid oak kitchen that I plan to paint. Having done some research, there are good reviews of Frenchic paint. I have joined a Facebook group with lots of tips and pictures of before and after. They sell the paint as 'no preparation' - so sugar soap scrub beforehand should do, no need to sand. I'm not sure whether to do it myself or pay someone as I think it will be quite a big job and I'm not sure I have the energy - there is a local furniture upcycling/vintage shop near me who do it so will get a quote from them. The feedback seems to be that kitchen cupboard painting is quite time consuming and is a bit of a labour of love....

I had my kitchen resprayed a few months ago by a company who came in and did it all in a day and a half. Most of that time was masking everything off before the actual spraying; they did the inside and outside of the doors and the finish is immaculate. It went from dark wood to a light F&B colour and I'm really pleased with it - it looks like a new kitchen. I was amazed at how reasonable it was - I'd certainly use them again if I had a kitchen I wanted painting.

You need special paint for this job in order to handle the battering kitchens inevitably get

Annie Sloan or f&b are not hard wearing enough

Try a renovation paint specially designed for the job like 3v3

Dd and SiL painted some awful old dark brown melamine kitchen cupboard doors in their new (old) house. They just used the cupboard paint you can get in most DIY shops. They did them an off white and the difference was amazing. The cupboards were going in the end anyway, since they were planning an extension, but in the fairly long meantime the kitchen looked so much nicer.
