Underfloor Heating

Hi Wise Ones! For those of you that have underfloor heating (water). Can you please share your heating schedules with me. This is our first winter and I need to set up the program to maximise efficiency, We have UFH for the whole of the ground floor, we are at work/school during the day and we would ideally like a temperature of around 21/22 degrees when we are home. Do you have it set to a timer or constant ?? Thanks

Constant. We think it is more efficient. Trial it and see what you think. If it is really cold this winter, constant is the best way to go. If it is really mild, then you could have it timed but we thought that was a faff.

Thanks Bubbles Sorry for the gormless question but if i set the thermostats to remain at one temperature, does it maintain that during the night as well? Just thinking that we wouldn't need downstairs to remain at 21/22 during the night...

I’ve had UFH for nearly 2 years and still don’t know how to use it properly 😆. Tbf I don’t think it’s been set up correctly. We used to have it on constantly/with timed ‘boosts’ for early morning and evening but the place would be roasting even in the middle of the night and we were using oil up in ridiculous amounts. I now put it on for 30mins/1hr when I need it (eg when I come down in the morning or Home at night) and that seems to be sufficient and much more efficient with oil. It’s very likely this isn’t how I should be using it but is better than it was

Likewise MissBaby. I havent a clue how ours works either! We have it in various areas but it wasnt laid well so there are lots of cold parts. But every time I think iv'e got to grips with the timers (we have 5 of the damned things) something happens & I cant be bothered to find out why!
I hear mixed opinions on whether more economical to leave on all the time or just timed. And some say its efficient to run, but others say it's really expensive! I m totally baffled by the whole thing.
