Replacing a combi-boiler - how much will it cost?

Afyer three visits from Scottish Power gas engineers this week, they have confirmed that it's not possible to get a replacement pump for our ancient boiler and are coming out tomorrow to quote for a replacement. Can anyone suggest how much replacing a combi-boiler would be? It would be a straightforward replacement with no need to move the boiler, install a new flue, or anything else.

Where are you located? Location does make a difference, ie: London prices generally a good bit higher. A new flue will be required and will come with the boiler anyway. Is it definitely a straight swap, no extra work?

DP is a heating engineer, it depends what kind of boiler your going for a top of the range ie Worcester or a low range boiler.
Other factors would be where you live, what’s the space like to work in is it small and cramped or spacious, if pipe work needs altering (gas supply’s to new boilers usually require increasing if they’re replacing very old boilers)
In Manchester for a straight swap combi boiler (Worcester) you’d be looking at about 2k - for a small company to do the work but if you were to get a national company in you’d be looking at least 3k as they play on their name

We paid £4K but our old one wasn’t condensing (new ones have to be) so we needed a load of new pipe work etc. They managed all the specialists in that - joiners to lift floors and make good and a roofer for the new flue. I’d imagine most replacements are less. I think the boiler itself was 1800.

When we got a new boiler about 3 years ago, a local Worcester Bosch engineer quoted us half of what BG did. The actual price is irrelevant to this post, as your location, type of house, energy demand is unlikely to be the same as mine, but it’s indication to shop around!

Thanks everyone. We're in Yorkshire. I suspect we don't have a condensing boiler as it's over 10 years old (we moved in here three years ago), so it looks like there will be extra costs! I will definitely get a few more companies in to quote.

I got two quotes for a Worcester combi-boiler about 1 month ago, for a 3 bed end of terrace. One quote was £1,600 and the other not much more (£1,700 from memory but not quite sure). I'm based in South Manchester.

Wales here, £1400 to have a Baxi condenser boiler fitted, independent guy, dread to think how much the national companies would have charged

I replaced ours about 12 or 13 years ago - British Gas's quote was literally over 3x what we paid the independent engineer who bought and fitted it for us.

We paid £1380.00 3 years ago for a Valliant. South Manchester.

Depends on the size of the boiler - do you have more than one bathroom etc. But for a straight swap in an average sized house I wouldn't expect more than £2000.

I'm in West Yorkshire OP. With British Gas half price boiler sale, got a Worcester Bosch combi condensing boiler fitted in same place as old combi. Price was approximately £2100. It included a plume kit and a Hive thermostat and getting electrician in to change plug to the required fused socket

It was a fixed price and good job it was because wall was in dreadful state when old boiler removed and BG had to get one of their builders in to sort it out.

Only chemical flush done though not power flush and I didn't get any thermostat valves on the radiators. Other boiler quote threads on here do show that BG can be overpriced, and maybe I could have paid a bit less. But I wanted a bit of piece of mind with a national company.
