Please help! Ceiling rose on light fitting too wide, any solutions?

I bought a chandelier for our breakast room, months and months ago. It took me months to find one I liked before that. Bought it, set it up, thought I had checked that it fitted. It has then sat on the side for many more months while I persuaded my DH to help put it up. Today that day arrived and I was so excited! Went to put it up and realised that ceiling rose is slightly wider than the beam along the ceiling it has to go on. Gutted! It would look awful like this.
Has anyone experienced this and/or got any ideas how it might be fixable. The light is perfect in every other way!
I wondered about getting a bevelled piece of wood made to sit above the light then paint it same colour as light or ceiling? Might that work and look ok do you think? Or is a complete no go? The rose is about 1 cm wider than the beam.
Thank you!

Have you got a picture of where it would go, MiniMum, please? Because it's quite difficult to visualise what you mean.

You could have a piece of timber cut slightly wider than the ceiling rose and attach that to the beam first.

"It would look awful like this"

only to a person who stands in the room looking at the ceiling.
