Blocking sun from conservatory?

We've recently moved into a rented house with a large conservatory. There are curtains on the "normal" (vertical) windows, but the ceiling windows are bare, and on warm days it is sweltering! We also have furniture in there that we don't want to get faded.

The landlord is willing to put a certain amount of money into helping this problem, but I suspect it won't be enough. Our neighbors have nice pleated shades, but I imagine they are custom-made and very expensive. I've also been reading about solar window film but I don't know anyone who has it.

I'd love any advice on the best way to keep our conservatory cooler in the warmer months, and particularly any info on costs for any solutions.
Thank you for any info!

Not sure, but in general, if you can shade it on the outside, it will have a much bigger effect on the heat coming in than on the inside.
