how can I change this bastarding light bulb??

Two of the under cabinet light bulbs in the kitchen need changing, first time since moving in 4 yrs ago.
I've googled and youtubed, can't find the exact fitting. Have probed with flat head screw driver to see if it springs out but nothing happens. There aren't any slots anywhere or anything to grab hold of.
I could just lever the whole thing out but worried it'll cause damage.

I have similar (not identical) lights which 'turn' out like a standard bayonet fitting. Do you have a sucker thing (like a mini plunger?) I got one with the original fittings, and push it onto the glas cover, twist and push gently, and they just pop out.

Have you tried twisting it - use a rubber glove for extra grip?

Try manipulating the metal part gently in a clockwise direction.

If that doesn't work, try sliding a fish knife gently between the metal part and the ceiling to see if that loosens the fitting

You have to push it in firmly and then twist it (not sure which way).
You've got to be quite firm with it and push it in.
Rubber glove definitely would help.
I watched a Youtube video a while ago as I was having the same problem.
Get a firm grip and don't be afraid to push!

I have these: press on the glass bit to apply upwards pressure, then twist (probably anti-clockwise but I'm not home so can't check, sorry).

The bulbs are sometimes supplied with a small, plastic sucker device, which can be used to do the press and turn. But i just use fingers, gently. Good luck.

Oh, but in the bathroom we had some that there solid units, but they were supposedly guaranteed for ten years, so hopefully not those.

I can prise the whole thing out a few cms, scared to pull any harder in case I break something.

Got these in my kitchen - they're a sodding nightmare. Other posters are right - but definitely use rubber gloves for more grip. I push both thumbs onto the edges of the glass and turn. That's the easy part !!! Getting a new bulb in is a nightmare

Thanks will keep trying the "push with both thumbs and turn" method. although hard to get in the right position to do this without hurting back and wrists.

Before you start going gung ho especially with metal knives and whatnot, make sure you turn it off at the main switchboard. It may be powered by mains voltage and it wouldn't be the first where the switch was in the neutral not the live.

Put both thumbs or a finger from each hand on the glass either side and use them to push and twist.
It needs to be firm but there's a knack to it too. If you keep pushing and twisting, it will eventually come out.

No , I think pressing on the glass and turning is the way to do it as sometimes I can get it to turn a bit and push in slightly but so far haven't hit on exactly how to get it out. DH no help apart from suggesting I forcibly remove the whole thing.
The other 3 lights are still working so will wait until they go then get electrician to do them all.
