Do I need a heat detector

I have had the wall knocked down between kitchen & diner & rsj installed.

Does anyone know if I now need to have a heat detector installed? I seem to be finding differing info online. Have gone through building regs for the wall down

Our gas and plumbing guys both said we needed both heat and smoke. It was cheap.

Phone building control. My guess is yes for sure. They are not expensive by the way: it's just a pimped up smoke detector that goes off when there is heat rather than smoke from burnt toast! 😀

heat detectors are used in kitchens because they don't go off when your burn the toast, but they will go off when your chip pan catches fire and belches flame.
