Relocating To London

Hello. We may be relocating to London in summer 2018 and i have 2 daughters who will be in secondary school. They have always been, and are currently in, a British international school so I think an independent school may be most appropriate but am not ruling out a good state secondary. Looking for advice on good independent secondary schools (girls or mixed). I realize that there are many and I have subscribed to the Good Schools Guide but am overwhelmed by the sheer number of good schools and the volume of information available. Not quite sure how to narrow it down.

My husband workplace will be in the city. A train into Waterloo (and a walk) or a tube into Temple would work.

So perhaps a good neighbourhood with good (independent) schools and an easy commute into Waterloo/Temple would help narrow down schools. Not really looking to live outside London but given that we would want a three bedroom apartment/house our budget may well require us to do so.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

Wimbledon - there’s Wimbledon high for girls (private) and the train to Waterloo takes 18 minutes. Lovely part of London with lots of green space.

You can also get the district line to temple I believe

When you say British international school, have they followed the British curriculum?

What’s the budget? Stereotypically, looking for a choice of good independent schools and trains to Waterloo, you want to look along the Richmond, Twickenham, Teddington, Kingston area.

I live in Sutton and that might appeal too. Sutton High is a lovely independent girls’ school and housing is cheaper around here. There are direct trains into the city (City Thameslink via Blackfriars). There are slow peak time trains to London Bridge as well.

Yes, They have followed the UK curriculum. It gets adapted for the international setting but it is the UK curriculum nevertheless.

Budget, I need to think about.

Will look at the areas you suggested. Certainly helps to have a narrower search in the Good Schools Guide!
