Painting a summer house

I'm after a bit of advice. Can anybody recommend a type/brand of paint suitable for painting a wooden summer house.
My husband has found some paint but it only comes in small tins and is very expensive and I can't imagine this is the only type or that you can't buy it in bigger tins (it's a big summer house).

What colour? Garden designer recommended Barnjacket paint to us as it lasts brilliantly. We've painted our small shed black with it. Looks awesome.

Have a look in Homebase / B&Q - they usually stock a few ranges.

Currently it's a sage colour which looks lovely but slightly peeling so needs doing this autumn. The barnjacket paint looks good but limited colours and I'd like to keep it a similar shade. Looks like most of the paints we like are designed to paint garden furniture so small tins. Cuprinol garden range seems a possibility though but only 4 years guarantee

Homebase do own brand garden shades, in quite a few colours/ large tins not sure of how they last though. I painted my shed with the Homebase paint a couple of years ago, still looks good.

We’ve used stuff from B&Q and have complaints.

What does the guarantee mean anyway? Would you go back to the shop 3 years after painting the summer house to get your money back?

I’d say that garden stuff needs touching up quite regularly.

I have a smart summerhouse and a slightly less smart one. Also a huge sawn timber garage with flat above etc. They are all painted in Farrow and Ball paint for exterior woodwork. It's the best. We had Cuprinol for the garage before and it went patchy and faded. You must prep the surfaces though.

Thank you - have convinced DH that we don't need to go for the incredibly expensive paint that he was insisting on and there are a number of other paints we can use.
I sometimes feel i'm going mad when discussing things like this with him as he gets so fixated on an issue so helps to approach it with 'other evidence' to back up my argument.
My thoughts exactly on the guarantee - i'm guessing he means that it will need painting again in a few years?

I painted my shed using Valspar tester pots when they were on offer for £1. I varnished over the top using an own brand clear varnish. It still looks great 3 years on (although may not be to everyone's taste!)
