Property swoon

Tell me IBU. I walked by this house today and pointed out the lovely front door to DS. Come to my nightly property search (we're not actually looking for a house, I just like looking) and I see it's for sale!! It went on the market today. In my excitement I foisted my tablet on DH and told him I loved it. He is not a fan and said we could buy it but then have to explain to DS why he can't go to university. it's not that expensive, he was just annoyed at my insistence on us buying it immediately Blush.
Tell me this house isn't that nice so I don't go to bed resenting my DH.

I looked at the 1st picture and thought - "apart from the sunny yellow door that's really fugly!"

But the interior pics are lovely - really nice house. Sorry, not much help Grin

Fekko · 12/10/2017 22:02

I like the living room and kitchen... not so much the rest. Isn't it quite dear for Edinburgh?

SpunkinLatte · 12/10/2017 22:06

It's about right for the neighbourhood taking into account the views. It will probably go for more.

nice kitchen, great views, ugly house and impractical garden

PitilessYank · 12/10/2017 22:10

I like the front door, the white bathroom, and parts of the backyard. Otherwise it seems quite ordinary.

radiosignal · 12/10/2017 22:11

Horrible.

SpunkinLatte · 12/10/2017 22:22

Hmmmm, interesting. I see your point about the outside. I have fallen in love with the kitchen and the wood burning stove. Other than that it's no bigger than the house we're in now. I love the garden too, but that's because ours is just a wee postage stamp.

It's nice inside. Looks horrible from the outside.

Heratnumber7 · 12/10/2017 22:22

Doesn’t do it for me.

Offthepaul · 12/10/2017 22:25

Whatever floats your boat!

apoolofprettypetals · 12/10/2017 22:27

The look of the outside is horrible but inside is lovely! Smile

Bluntness100 · 12/10/2017 22:31

That’s open plan living with s vengeance, cooking smells, washing mschine noise, no separation, in a relatively small space, and the core of the house is quite basic, it’s just basically a small bungalow type mid terrace property and the outside rendering is really unattractive.

Why don’t you negotiate and get a wood burner in, you don’t need s hearth.

SuburbanRhonda · 12/10/2017 22:32

One of the bedrooms is downstairs!

SpunkinLatte · 12/10/2017 22:33

OK, you've all calmed my house fever and I can see it more objectively. I'd hate that entryway eventually. And I've sworn I will never live in a mid-terrace again. Phew.

You could buy a nicer property with an ugly front door.
And just change the door

SpunkinLatte · 12/10/2017 22:36

suburban and bluntness we would use the downstairs bedroom as a sitting room/study as there's only 3 of us so the kitchen could just be a kitchen/diner. But we'd still not have a downstairs loo or guest room.

OP posts:
Bluntness100 · 12/10/2017 22:39

But then your son would have the little box room for a bed room?

Bluntness100 · 12/10/2017 22:40

And you’d spend your evenings in that little bedroom as a living room, because that’s where your sofa would be?

Nandoshoes · 12/10/2017 22:40

Jesus. I opened the link and the yellow door practically punched me in the face. Inside is fab though.

SpunkinLatte · 12/10/2017 22:55

You're right. This now makes me hate my current house more as our sitting room is not much bigger than that room and we have our dining table in here too. Sad But I've gone off the house. Thank-you oh Wise Ones.

JoJoSM2 · 12/10/2017 22:55

On the first pic, I also thought 'how fugly!' I do think it has great windows that really maximise light in the property.

3luckystars · 13/10/2017 01:06

Oh dear, I like it too!

Copy all the pictures and buy a similar one that needs to be done up?

Bluntness100 · 13/10/2017 07:39

Oh that back fired then. Are you moving? If not, looking at property porn is always going to make you more dissatisfied ..😔

5rivers7hills · 13/10/2017 09:17

Is that really your property swoon?

Its tiny. Crappy layout. Grim from the outside. Overlooked garden.

Admittedly they have done it up really nicely and very on-trend inside but you could replicated that in any house!
