Kitchen pendant lights-is more expensive better?

I need 2 or 3 for our island (1.8m). Is there anywhere good to look online? I've been to the local lighting shop today & they had some nice David hunt pendants but they were £150ish with discount & I don't know if it's worth spending more than the £50ish I was expecting to pay.

Any advice appreciated

Don't think more expensive is better, but do think it's worth saving/spending on exactly what you want rather than compromising. Or at least this is what I'm telling myself as we need 6. We've bought some of those vintage style bulbs to make do until we can get the pendants!

Depends on your budget really. We live in an expensive house but there’s a chandelier from B&Q above the island. There was some silly money spent on other stuff, though. I tend to get some fancy key pieces but other stuff on a budget. I think it looks nice but keeps the costs down.

I think you should have an odd number of them whatever you decide.

Mine are from next less than £50 each. They were the ones I wanted not more expensive ones.

I was looking at expensive ones when we did our kitchen six years ago. Needed three for over the table. Bought some from JOhn Lewis for £125 each but they went back as just didn't look right. Bought some temporary ones from IKEA for £20 each. They are still up. Work well in the space so can't see any point in buying anything else.

My friend bought hers on eBay and is very happy with them.

Thanks all-I don't want to spend money unnecessarily & ordered some from Laura Ashley in the sale ages ago but they're too small!

I think bigger pendants would look better but then 3 would be too many squashed together. I was looking at cream metal shades in the shop & there was the £150 one &'another at £70. They didn't look much different to me but the salesperson said ' that one's not as good', about the cheaper one. I confirmed she meant looks wise.

I agree the big old filament bulbs are nice.

Any Tom Dixon pendant or Tom Dixon copy.

I've decided on 2 of these late last night when I got sick of looking at things! I've found one less than half the price of the local lighting shop online & will go & buy the other at the shop today! They're only going over the island so tall dh shouldn't have the same problem!

I am a bit worried that 3 of something would look better but also think bigger is better for pendants so will suck it & see!

Also ordered the gold globe led bulbs-looking forward to those
