Party Wall Agreements/Info neighbour needs to do work

We moved house recently and our attached neighbour needs to do some work on their chimney stack. It is shared between our house and theirs.

I've only just realised it is our shared one and not the one with the other neighbour, hence hadn't thought sooner. Should there be some kind of party wall agreement? I know I need to go and have a cup of tea/chat about it, but not sure what I should expect the neighbour to be planning. She mentioned 'some chimney work' in a month or so but didn't give any more detail. Another neighbour said her understanding was that they removed the fireplace and propped it up (badly) and I know they've been trying to seek the house for a long time. Other neigh said, 'so if it were to collapse it would at least collapse into their house not yours'! I don't want to get off on the wrong foot but am equally keen to make sure we don't suffer from what sounds like a bodged job in the first instance.

Does anyone have any knowledge as to if a party wall agreement should apply, should we expect notification of works etc? If we don't get any, is it just tough luck we have to deal with a potentially bodged job?

Feeling rather confused from google so any thoughts would be much appreciated!
