We have a quirky bungalow with a short staircase either side of kitchen going down into Lounge on one side and down to bedrooms on other side. We want carpet in bedrooms and lounge but obviously not in kitchen or hallway. So to match Oak worktops we would like an oak floor and are thinking engineered wood. Has anyone got this on stairs and is it slippy?? Also any advice on where to buy engineered wood? So difficult to know what is good quality? Any another options for kitchen and stairs? Thanks all

I think wooden stairs would be fine (I've always had them and no problems). However, wood for stairs is different from narrower planks for covering the floor so you'd to ask in the shop or a tradesman what to use and how to make it match.

Another option would be to see what wood your stairs are and use floorboards that match it. Then, get it all stained the same colour as the worktop.
