Washing machine in peninsula cabinet

Hi,
We are designing our new kitchen and have a few questions. We want to have a peninsula (no a breakfast bar) but due to the size of the kitchen we think that the washing machine (freestanding and full size).
The peninsula would have the washing machine next to the 90° angle and at the end of it a 30cm wide cabinet.
Is this a good idea? I wonder if the shaking of the washing machine when in spinning cycle may affect the stability of the peninsula.

Consider also the extra lengths of pipes and drain hose.

As long as you choose a decent make of washer and make sure the legs are adjusted to level, it shouldn't damage the cabinet. Make sure you leave a gap slightly bigger than the machine so it has its own space. Cheap disposable makes of washing machine aren't very stable in general. If it's open plan you'll want a quiet one anyway.

Yay, you call it a peninsula too! I have just redesigned my kitchen and whenever I say "peninsula" the kitchen people look all confused and I have to explain Grin

Consider the pipes though. You might need to track your floor, if you're on the ground floor, in order to get the pipes through to/from the outside supply (or perhaps you can take the pipe under the plinth of the cupboards if that leads to your water hook up). I don't think that should be a problem, as I've seen a lot of kitchen islands with vegetable sinks in them, but I would just speak to your plumber to plan that first.

hi WLMcI , well that's the term I found it on different catalogues. I think those who don't know the term are new in the business or with limited experience. The peninsula will be attached to a side of cabinets with a dish washer and sink. I think I will only need longer pipes from/to the washing machine. My only concern was when the washing machine is in spinning cycle, it may shake the whole peninsula and with time it may collapse.
