Impatient buyer

That's me.. We're buying a house but not knowing what's happening and how long this is going to take is starting to drive me crazy. Our searches have been completed, the solicitor says she is waiting for a few clarifications from the sellers solicitor but can't give me any estimation on times yet. Our buyer has been really quick with getting everything sorted. She's had the bank's survey a month ago and the housebuyers survey a week ago. We've got no idea whether our buyer has got her mortgage issued or searches done or even started but she's generally been so organised I'm thinking hopefully it's all going well. Has anyone else had a similar experience of being kept in the darkness a bit? Is it normal or are some solicitors better at telling you exactly what's going on? I'd like to know whether it's likely to be a couple weeks or months to exchange of contracts? And how long does it normally take from exchange of contracts to actual moving date. Our sellers are moving into rented but again no idea whether they've got anything sorted or not. Hate this uncertainty! It's like the last weeks of pregnancy when you've just had enough. ,🤣

I feel ya!
We are hopefully coming towards the end of this god damn awful process
Still don't actually know what the hell is going on tho
I ring my solicitors every other day for updates, they are absolutely shit
Our solicitor does one week from exchange to completion but I think it varies!
Honestly, this is genuinely the most stressful thing ever! Not to mention trying to pack a whole house with a 2 year old that thinks it's funny to pull everything out!
Good luck, hope it goes smoothly for you!

So glad I'm not the only one. Where are you at in your process? Have you had surveys/searches done yet? Impressed that you're packing. I've nowhere near started. Somehow in my head it's not even happening yet. I've got a four bedroom house to pack with 7, 4 and 1 year olds and a full-time job. So it would probably be smart to slowly start.

We ran into trouble with our buyers buyer, and when I asked our solicitor why we hadn't been told, they basically said that it wasn't their job to communicate with anyone else in the chain beyond written requests from other solicitor. Apparently they expect estate agents to be telling them who is ready to exchange and when, until the first persons team in the chain has officially said they have everything they just wait for the next enquiry. And no, they won't do general updates unless you call and ask :s
