Hanging doors

Just been quoted £240 to hang 2 doors. Is that ridiculous or am I out of touch?

Does it include them supplying the doors, sound a bit much if not, depends where you are in the country too.

I was quoted £55 a door
I had 11 to do
I got a friend of a friend and he quoted me £40 a door
He did it after work over a couple of weeks

Wow, we just had 9 doors done at £15 a door! Midlands

It was about £270 for the doors and another £70 for hinges, latches and handles though.

£15 a door does sound cheap - did it only take an hour per door ?

Our carpenter took 3-4 hours a door (nothing is square here) - 2 doors for one days labour so just paid the day rate (£150ish). He's not fast so I can't imagine he would have marked and chiselled out three hinges in 60 mins....

Im sure ours were £20 a door. We bought the doors.

Do you realise how hard it is to hang doors?

We're providing doors etc. Just had a second quote for £60 and third for £80 so think the first guy is onto plumbs.

Yes it's a pain in the arse to hang doors. I've done it before I just don't have the tools or the inclination this time

Same as didIreallysaythat..a good tradie can only hang two doors a day (also nothing square so a lot of framing out and planing the doors). Painting seems to take the same amount of time too!!

Still impressed with that day rate OP - I wonder if your carpenter will travel ...?
