Hi All,

We are in the process of purchasing a very old property in early 1900's build. And looking for Full Building survey. After spending almost 2 weeks in Internet search and calls to several Surveyors from Ricsfirms.com, I am really confused. They do promise you a lots of stuffs, but when i actually get into the details of their respective reports which they have emailed me, I see that most of the areas like subsidence, cavity walls etc they cannot comment on it. They just give a comment based on assumptions not facts.

Now I am really in need of recommendations from you all, who have first hand experience with various surveyors . If you can help me with some of the best surveyors that you have used anytime please let me know their details. I am looking for Surrey area. The property is in woking.

Kind Regards,

Hahahaha! Yes, I'm afraid surveys are now comprehensively useless. Everything that matters is left open or so uncertain that you're no better off than when you started. They're so afraid of being sued for getting it wrong, they tell you absolutely nothing!

When DH bought our house, the survey said it had cavity walls and that they needed redoing. It does not, in fact, have cavity walls, being built before that era.
