We're relocating to Edinburgh from London (well actually, I've already moved) and are in the process of selling our flat in London. We have a buyer and everyone has a solicitor and it's all supposedly happening, but I'm not coping very well with the slowness.

I think the biggest frustration is that because we're moving from England to Scotland, we aren't going to be in a position to offer on a new place here until we have exchanged - so I can't even busy myself with a property search, except for the odd half-hearted viewing. Is anyone else at the mercy of solicitors and would like to share my pain? There's only so many polite 'progress update' emails I can send out each day...

Absolutely feel your pain! We are in a fairly long chain, and it is killing me. We found our new house, and accepted an offer on ours, back in April, the chain has been complete since a couple of weeks later, but still we are dawdling along. The bottom two properties are leasehold, so getting all the relevant paperwork sorted for those is apparently taking some time, but seriously - it's been nearly 5 months! Our solicitor told us yesterday that the bottom two's solicitors haven't been very proactive in chasing up these outstanding items (no shit), and this is the cause of the hold up.

Hope you get some good news soon. It feels so disheartening, doesn't it?!

It's mega frustrating. Sounds like you're being much more patient than me though! 5 months in, any light at the end of the tunnel?

I think I was being naive with my hopes of a quick sale - we are also leasehold and I remember perfectly the 4 month wait we had last time...

No light at the end of the tunnel unfortunately, and it just feels like the tunnel is getting longer and longer! We have heard today our sellers will pull out if we haven't completed by end of October. I could cry!

I think there is always that hope, isn't there, even though past experience tells you it probably ain't gonna happen any time quick!

Oh god, they weren't joking when they said moving house was stressful!
Had our offer accepted In June, were meant to be moving today...
now it's been delayed for various reasons
Wifi has already been cut off kill me now
The thing I'm most annoyed about tho, is the fact we've been assigned our solicitors receptionist, who has no legal training
Only found this out two days ago!
They can bugger off if they think I'm paying full price..
It is the most slow and awful process ever!
I'm sure they are pissed off with me ringing them every day but if I didn't we would be even further behind!
Don't even get me started on our buyers solicitors!
Ah I cannot wait until the day we exchange and all this is over!
Good luck and I hope everything goes as smoothly and as quickly as possible!
