My OH likes wallpaper from John Lewis its called cherry blossom on a eau du nil background but we're a bit stuck about what colour paint to put with it. Thinking a grey but don't know what to do about carpet or curtains. Room is a through lounge diner so north facing at front and south at back. Would be grateful for any ideas.

I'd match the background colour or if you want the papered wall to stand out more - I assume you are papering one of two walls only - use one of the other colours in the pattern. If you are looking for paint for the woodwork I'd match the lightest colour or use white.

Yes that'
s a good idea. We are planning to put wallpaper into alcoves beside fireplace and then paint the rest. The colour on background of wallpaper seems a bit dark to me so am thinking of doing a light grey on the rest of the walls and maybe match the blue from the wallpaper for the chimney breast. still not sure about carpet or curtains though.
