AIBU - Next Doors Sensor Light

I just wanted to run this past people before I raise it. While we were away our next door neighbour attached security lights to the side of their property which overlooks our back garden. (Their house juts in front of our house and there is a narrow alley way where they store bits and bobs, nothing valuable). Every time I open my back door or anything moves in my garden the lights go off illuminating my garden and the back of my house. WIBU to ask them to move it or switch it off? It is on in the day time also. They are lovely neighbours apart from this.

Speak to them about it as it clearly needs its settings tweaking. Sounds as though it's been put up without anything being adjusted.

There are usually two variable settings - one governs when the light comes on: if it is coming on in daylight this needs changing so it only comes on from dusk; the other governs how long the light stays on for once activated. The PIR (under the actual light) which senses motion and triggers the light to come needs to be adjusted so it is not picking up movement in your garden - it just needs moving round until that stops.

I'm going to speak to them later. Having 3 kids running in and out of my house means the bloody light is on and off all day! Their garden is raised so the light is very high above my garden (my garden is probably 2 feet lower than theirs as we live on a hill) and therefore sensitive across the whole area. There is probably only a 40 inch gap between the security light and the boundary of my garden. If they can fiddle with settings that is great.

They've switched it off. Thank you
