Engineered bamboo flooring an option? I personally hate oiled as it takes too much maintenance, and you will want it it be as water resistant as humanly possible. So it needs to be lacquered or engineered, I think. Bamboo is very very hard so won't dent if you drop a heavy saucepan, and it's naturally water repellent as well.

I have engineered wood and it's laquered. It is pretty bomb proof unless you drop something heavy and sharp in which case you might get a dent.

We got the click together boards and put waterproof wood glue in every joint and we have had no water damage at all. We also have felt stuck on the bottoms of chair legs etc to stop any scratches. Still looks good as new 2 years in.
