Extensions. What were your extras not in the quote

Just started our extension and have a contingency but 700 just gone on unexpected drainage problems, in week 3. Starting to get a bit anxious, so would be interested in what was extra on your builds and how much did you spend over and above the original quote?

Electrics were a massive jump - something like £2.1k allowed for in the quote but cost over £4k. The reason was that we added extra lighting / sockets / internet cables etc, our existing sockets in the main were too low down so needed raising but also the quote didn't include electrics for fitting the kitchen (and ended up asking builders to fit kitchen). Also needed to upgrade box to have another circuit.

Additional labour / plastering when they discovered big crack in wall (had been hidden by massive built in wardrobe). Had to take it back to brick to check it was structurally sound before they continued.

Other than that, no other real added costs - other than extras we asked for along the way - fitting of flooring, new front door, kitchen installation, joinery in bedrooms, tiling in bathrooms. We planned on doing some of that later / ourselves but realised the state of chaos caused by the extension (ours was quite a big job) would never end if we didn't get everything sorted in one go, so just paid the builders to do it.

Foundations had to be dug lower than anticipated. Other than that not much else except things we chose as extras- more sockets, laying flooring, outside wall lights, decorating, new radiators.
However the building works have caused a lot of mess outside so we will eventually need a new patio and driveway which we hadn't planned for but these are not urgent.

As above more sockets above skirting and worktops ,we also had a couple of usb sockets also.Decided to get living room skimmed as it connects to new extension ..took hours to meticulously take all the wallpaper off and when I got home next day it was all bare brick ! It was mostly dead plaster so ended up fully plasteringand decorating that room ..a drain which took water from the kitchen had a long term crack which in turn had rotted some of the joists in old kitchen so they had to be replaced.
We also turned old kitchen into a bedroom but architect hadn't noticed the soil pipe smack bang in the middle of the proposed window Hmm so that all needed replacing ..not much seperately but added together it was a bit ..otherwise we got extra jobs done ..new gas fire(all pipe work needed ) all new solid wood flooring downstairs, electric meter taken out of loo and put into alley... landscape the garden..tiles are expensive as we have same in and out ...quote was £78k I think and we will have done £110k but it does / will look wonderful!!!! The original quote didn't include the whole kitchen so I think we have done quite well ..
