So we are seriously starting to lack space and I am about to start working part time from home so looking to expand! We have never done any sort of major home improvements so have a few questions:

Thinking of adding porch, single story extension and moving into the loft to create 2 rooms - this can be done at separate times or is it more economical to do it all together?

What is the process?

How long does it take?

Any good tips? Websites for layout/costings?

Thanks

First ask the advice of an Architect. Their training will give you the best design options for your needs. You may be able to create more space without as many buildings/alterations, thus saving money in the long run.
Once you've decided on the designs and have the plans drawn out then you will need planning permission, assuming that none of it comes under permitted development. The Architect will advise you and apply for permission. This can take a couple of months, or more depending where you live. Then you will need to apply for building regulations, to make sure your designs meet building standards.
Then you need to get a good builder!
Some will say just get a builder/ technician to draw up the plans, they will do as you ask, but not necessarily give you the best design.
