No cold water to bar shower mixer.

We've been in our new place nearly a year. I think the mixer shower bar (fixed into the wall at the side of the bath) was newly installed when we moved in, but it's been working fine until this morning, when we could only get hot water out of the shower. The temperature control dial is turning loosely, too, unlike before.

The bath taps are both working fine. Any idea what could be wrong and if it's something we could try to sort ourselves? There are screws to remove the bar from the wall, but no other panels that can be removed. Also, no idea what make it is, although the guy who fixed this place up seems to have got everything as cheaply as possible from Screwfix.

Thanks!

probably something has gone wrong with the thermostatic valve which the knob should operate.

For some reason bar showers are both cheaper and less reliable than the round-bodied ones, and not usually worth replacing.

Have a careful look at how it is fixed to the wall (and post a photo if you can)

With luck it will have been fixed to a wall plate, and they are a standard fitting so it is quite easy to fit a new one. If you are unlucky it will be hanging off copper pipes poked through the wall.

Ah, thanks, @PigletJohn. Will try to unscrew it and see how it looks; will just have to have baths for a while, I suspect!
