Planning permission and works

I have a planning application in with the L.A in London. it is for an extension and some redesign to the existing structure that sees some walls blocked up and a bathroom moved. I am in a ground floor flat.

However, I've been made redundant so want to only proceed with the extension and not do any work within the existing layout.

Is this possible or do I need to fulfil everything that is in the whole planning application and what will happen at the building control stage when only the extension is built? Or do i need to put in another application?

Check with your LA, but here once you start the works you can take as long as you like to finish them. The planning permission doesn't lapse as long as the work covered by the planning permission has commenced.
