We are looking at getting a loft conversion. Ideally we would get started on the planning stage so as we want to start ttc second child in
8 months.

How much did your cost?
How long did it take from start to finish?
What are your top tips?
Where I am going to put all the stuff in loft for the next baby? - I don't expect answers to that one!

loads of old threads in this section op, which companies to be wary of etc. We had some pricing done recently and it was around 45 grand mark SE, check which companies sub contract out - many are like an agent for others and therefore have little control over people in your home....get idea of rough plan for how many light sockets and stuff...

We're having our loft turned a 2 bed dormer with w/c/shower room, and airung cupboard. They start work in October. We're having a storage area in the eaves at the front of the house (opposite the dormer where the two bedrooms are) accessed through a half door height "hatch" in the airing cupboard.

It's not a huge area but we've seriously decluttered. It took us 6 months to empty the loft, it was packed! It will be big enough for the essentials though ☺

Surprisingly, we have more useful storage space having done the loft conversion than we did before.

Ours is 35,000 all in.

Get plenty of quotes, ask around for recommendations and for a a good architect. Try your local community facebook pages, and asking neighbours. Our architect is actually a recently retired building inspector from our local council, so he knows his stuff and he was half the price of qualified architects.
