Log Burner Renovation - Beam and Tiles

We are about to move in to a new house and want to change the appearance of the current log burner and would love reccomendations on the best way to go about this so it remains safe. We want to back the log burner with a brick effect - can you get fire proof tiles that can be used for this? We also want to install a beam mantle above the burner - who can help put this up so it is a safe distance and is their a specific wood that should be used?

Bottom picture is current log burner and top is what we want to transform it to.

Basically any ceramic/stone will be fine at the back.
As for the wooden mantle, that too should be fine.
If the log burner you have is legal, I'd just go ahead and make the changes. Look for a small metal plate, normally on the burner or under the stairs.
Hope that helps :)
