We have a full floor to ceiling bank of fitted wardrobes which were already there when we bought our house. They are more than 20yrs old maybe older. We need to remove them to replaster the walls and replace the old plaster & lath ceiling. The plasterwork is dead so no question it needs to be done.
Our builder has said that under current regs the very large panes of mirror doors would not be allowed to be re-fitted. There are 3 x panes of mirror glass on runners, floor to ceiling approx size each pane 2600mm high x 1200mm wide. They are flimsy and are thin panes of mirror glass (no backing) set in a metal frame. They glide on runners top and bottom, floor to ceiling. Very substantial but old.
Is the builder right? Can these not be re-fitted under current regs.
It will cost us a fortune to put a new compliant fitted wardrobe in its place. We do have unusually high ceilings which is the problem really.
